Children's Museum to remain open over winter break

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Children's Museum at Saratoga is keeping its doors open for families over the holiday break. The museum will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and reopen on the 26th. Get the latest news, weather, sports and more delivered right to your inbox! “School break is a perfect time to bring the little ones to the Children’s Museum,” said Sarah Smith, Executive Director of the Museum. “We’re simply inviting them to play–and the bonus is that they’ll be learning important social and educational skills as they’re doing it.”The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Families are invited to attend the Winter Wonderland education programs offered daily at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. The Winter Wonderland programs are free with admission. GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Gloversville Police Department is asking for the public's help in figuring out the origin of two pieces of clothes, covered in apparent blood, that were found in Prospect Hill Cemetery on S. Kingsboro Avenue in Gloversville. The clothes, based on brand and size, appear to belong to a young woman, according to Gloversville Police. ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. - Two people were hurt after they jumped from a second-story window as an intense fire overnight gutted their St. Charles home. On Wednesday morning, investigators think the flames may have started near a Christmas tree.On Hempstead Street in Newtown, St. Charles, close to North Canal Way, is where the fire destroyed the house. At this point, fire investigators say there does not appear to be anything suspicious about the fire. The cause will likely be an accidental fire of some sort.St. Charles Fire Chief George Sheets lives close to the location and, in fact, was the first on the scene. Sheets revealed that the call came in a little before 1:00 a.m.When he arrived, Sheets told FOX 2 that the three people who lived here were all already out of the house. JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - Missouri health officials have warned of five lead poisoning cases in children linked to applesauce products. The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is urging residents to "immediately dispose" of several products as part of a FDA recall. The FDA has been investigating "elevated levels of lead" in certain applesauce products for several weeks and issued a recall on Nov. 9. A new area code is coming to Colorado.Starting in 2026, phone customers in the 970 area code region, which covers western and northern parts of the state, could be assigned a new 748 area code, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission announced in a Monday news release.The new area code will not be used until the 970 area code has been used up, according to the news release. A massive storm system moving into Southern California prompted Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia to close Wednesday. The amusement park made the announcement in an update on its Instagram page. "Due to inclement weather, Six Flags Magic Mountain will be closed today December 20, 2023," a portion of the statement read. The Southland is bracing for several inches of rain and possible thunderstorms Wednesday through Friday.
